Editorial review

Subsonic is a streaming audio and video content server with a web interface (via http or https) and multiple user management, as well as LDAP authentication. The music is encoded on the fly, by default using FFmpeg and into MP3 for audio and FLV for video. These settings are very easy to change. A large number of formats are recognized by default, as well as the corresponding tags with the possibility of editing, in particular for MP3, AAC, OGG, FLAC, WMA and APE formats. Subsonic is translated into many languages, including French, with 24 default themes. It offers the possibility of playing music in the web player, as in an external player (with playlist management), of controlling the music remotely using your phone, as well as downloading the music, track by track, like an album entire. Applications exist for Android, iPhone/iPad, Windows Phone 7/8, Windows, Mac, Linux and BlackBerry PlayBook. There is bandwidth management by limiting the bitrate, the music will automatically be re-encoded with the correct bitrate. Subsonic works on most platforms using Java technology, including Windows, Mac, Linux and other Unix variants.
